UPDATE: Spinnin’ has clarified that DMNW’s information is incorrect, and that the artist in question is only a vocalist on an upcoming release.
Spinnin’ Records has long been touted as EDM’s home of bigroom house, but in recent years they’ve really been pushing the envelope in terms of finding new sounds and styles that fit the label’s new creative direction. Now, they’ve made perhaps their boldest signing yet with their first ever K-Pop artist Hyolyn from the all-girl group Sistar.
Hyolyn not only marks the label’s first ever K-Pop artist on the label, but according to her management, marks the label’s first ever Asian signing as well. In the past, Hyolyn has worked with Far East Movement and DJ Soda, so she does have a bit of experience working with dance music in the past.
In recent years EDM and K-Pop have started to crossover with artists like Skrillex, Diplo, Baauer, and Alesso leading the charge.
