The Chainsmokers & Coldplay Collab For “Something Just Like This”

The Chainsmokers have just released their new collaboration with Coldplay out of nowhere! After an apparent leaked ad showed up on Spotify yesterday, we’ve just received the full track.

The song came out today with no warning whatsoever, suddenly appearing on Spotify. The track definitely follows the new pattern of pop-focused music from The Chainsmokers, even drawing pretty close comparisons to “Roses” and “Paris” in the drops. However, something about just having the name Coldplay on a track with dance music – like when Avicii co-produced “A Sky Full Of Stars” – is a huge moment.

There’s absolutely no doubt whatsoever that this will be a #1 hit on multiple charts, and it will also go multi-platinum with ease. With a debut album on the horizon, we can only expect more quality collabs to come out on the heels of this huge release. So strap in, turn up the volume, and check it out below.

Listen to “Something Just Like This” by The Chainsmokers & Coldplay:

The Chainsmokers just recently broke a huge record on the Billboard charts, surpassing previous records held by LeAnn Rimes and Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars. “Closer” has now been in the top 5 of the Billboard Hot 100 for a record 26 weeks, the longest of any track ever in the history of the chart.

While “Don’t Let Me Down” has been dominating awards shows over the past 12 months, it’s undoubtedly “Closer” which has won the hearts of millions of listeners. However, now, with the release of a collaboration with Coldplay, we’re looking at a side of The Chainsmokers that we only dreamed of. Star power and collaborations of epic proportions are no longer just pipe dreams and wishes – they’re a reality and this is undoubtedly evidence of that.

The Chainsmokers are still one of the most polarizing figures in dance music since many feel that they’re “not EDM” anymore, after transitioning to mostly pop records, but you have to admit… it’s great to see them succeeding.
