At this point in his career, filous has absolutely nailed that mellowed out dance/country hybrid sound, and yesterday he did it once again with “Goodbye” featuring vocalist Mat Kearney that’s come out on Ultra Records.
There’s a similar aesthetic in the atmosphere of “Goodbye” to his two most successful songs to date, “How Hard I Try” and his “Coming Over” remix. Soft strings, warm male vocals with the perfect amount of reverb, and melodic chords. There’s always been a great amount of restraint in filous’ production, which always leads me to wonder how a song that’s so simply produced can be so damn brilliant. Once again, he’s made magic with “Goodbye.”
