Superfly, the organizer behind Bonnaroo and Outside Lands, has teamed up with Goldenvoice parent company AEG to begin plans for a brand new festival in Colorado. One of the locations currently on the radar for hosting the event is Denver’s Overland Park Golf Course, likely for its vast expanses of grass and the potential to hold tens of thousands of attendees.
According to Chuck Morries, CEO of AEG Live Rocky Mountains, the idea has been in the works since 2010, and will include a wide diversity of musical acts across multiple stages. The new event plans to bring in 30,000 to 60,000 fans, and will be held across one weekend in 2018, closing by 10 p.m. each night.
As Denver-based publication Westword reported, “Morris and his colleagues see potential — not just in run-of-the-mill stadium concerts, but in creating a festival experience with multiple stages and a bevy of musical acts, akin to Coachella, if slightly smaller, at least in the beginning.” 
With other locations such as Colorado’s Westminster, situated about 10 miles north of Denver, still in consideration for the new event’s final destination, the AEG and Superfly teams now find themselves dealing with the area’s approval process to lock something down.
