Justin Martin, one of the figureheads of Dirtybird’s eclectic house movement, just had his USB stolen at last week’s Dirtybird Quarterly show at San Francisco’s Mezzanine. The drive was taken from the venue’s CDJs just moments before Martin’s performance, and fans far and wide have taken pledges to destroy the wicked thief, whoever it may be.
Martin still played the show, doing his best to deliver a set worthy of all who came, but the pain of having his lifeblood stolen still shadowed the night. Even SF Weekly wrote about the crime, and has the entire bay area looking for the thumb-sized nugget of music files.
UPDATE: It has been found! See more below:

The USB drive holds unreleased music that would be better kept out of the wrong hands for obvious reasons, and Martin has said after reviewing camera footage, they know who stole it, and promised to “hunt him down.” He even went so far as to offer a $1,000 reward for returning the USB, no questions asked, but to no avail. When they catch this guy (there’s no question of if), he will be reamed to the utmost degree by all things Dirtybird. We almost feel sorry for the thiefling, but not quite.
Heartbroken… sorry to my fans tonight.. my soul was stolen. If you have any leads as to who snatched my usb out of the cdj plz help…
