Le Malls Achieves Rapid Success With “R&G”

It’s crazy that producers in 2017 are coming from anywhere and everywhere. As Anton Ego says in Ratatouille, “Not everyone can become a great artist; but a great artist can come from anywhere.” This applies equally to producers. Case in point, 17-year-old Moroccan born producer Mehdi Malihi AKA “Le Malls.”

He started producing music at the young age of 13, and has kept up a quality of life in the meantime that many might find difficult. He’s currently a senior in high school, speaks five languages, and does remarkably well in his studies. We’re told that when the time comes “to get in the zone creatively, he takes it seriously, and doesn’t let distractions like texts and social media interfere.”

This release, “R&G,” is demonstrative of his drive and work ethic. Of course, it helps that this track uses one of my favorite elements in trap: horns. That, alongside the almost whimsical and mysterious female vocals, give the track a large degree of depth and complexity not commonly found in trap music, let alone trap music under 3 minutes.

This one is definitely worth your time to listen to; check it out below:

“R&G” has amassed over 2 million views within its first week.
