It’s been a long time since we’ve had a new Gorillaz track, but finally the drought is over.
As we wait for the release of their new album due out later this year, we’ve received “Hallelujah Money,” a collaboration with UK singer-songwriter Benjamin Clementine. The new track is particularly politically charged, reflecting on a capitalist society in which money is idolized.
As Consequence of Sound points out, it comes on the eve of Donald Trump’s inauguration, “a sharp rebuttal of Trump’s inflammatory rhetoric and fear-mongering policies.”
Dark times – u need someone to look up to. Me. Here’s a lightning bolt of truth in a black night. Now piss on! New stuff won’t write itself. https://t.co/tOqYnXqrU2
