Porter Robinson & Madeon Collaboration “Shelter” Gets Tenacious Drum Cover [Video]

Since “Shelter” dropped in the middle of last year, Porter Robinson and Madeon have reignited their fans into ways no one could have anticipated at the time. The collaboration was a dream amongst their respective fan bases that we knew we wanted, but didn’t know we were going to get. Like a surprise birthday party, “Shelter” came into electronic music as an overwhelming delight as it follows each artist’s last major projects, expanded into a unique tour, and even gave birth to an anime. But it looks like one fan is taking his appreciation for the latest Porter Robinson and Madeon collaboration to a new level.

Drummer Matt McGuire has made a habit of uploading videos on his YouTube channel where he covers a wide array of music. From Skrillex, Excision, Illenium, and more, McGuire films himself taking these electronic songs and injecting them with his percussion prowess. Although “Shelter” is a pretty relaxing track, McGuire has filled this song with precise insertions of hi-hats and energetic drum rolls that revisit this song with the same kind of technical exactness that would be found in hard rock or heavy metal scenes of music. Either way, this drum cover is another example of Porter and Hugo’s influence on the dance music scene evolving through the community.

Take some time and check out Matt McGuire’s drum cover of “Shelter” by Porter Robinson and Madeon and let us know what you think of it.
