Since 2006, Spotify has been setting the bar for streams, disrupting the status quo, and pushing innovation upon the music industry all in one fell swoop. The Swedish company is largely responsible for streaming’s new title as the world’s most popular way to consume music, and their growth isn’t showing any signs of slowing down… and neither is their wit.
In their never ending search for the best, Spotify has a new position opening for “President of Playlists,” and it’s the perfect way to share your impeccable taste for all things music. Of course, it’s all an elaborate joke aimed at outgoing President Obama.
President Obama had invited ambassadors to a private reception at the White House last week, including Swedish ambassador Natalia Brzezinski and his wife. His wife took to Instagram and shared a story in which President Obama joked that he was thinking about taking a position at Spotify after his term was up.
“I’m still waiting for my job at Spotify… ‘cause I know y’all loved my playlist,” he said.

They’re welcoming any and all who think they’ve got proper ability to recognize and project trends. Spotify’s quirky humor is readily apparent in the description, but if you don’t have a Nobel Peace Prize… sorry. Not really, but seriously.
“It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, what you look like, or what music you love. We believe that diversity of experience, perspectives, and background, lead to a better environment for everyone. We value this and encourage you to come be a part of changing the way the world listens to music.”
Hey @BarackObama, I heard you were interested in a role at Spotify. Have you seen this one? https://t.co/iragpCowpO
