Music Festival Wizard Reveals Annual Report On The 50 Most Popular Festivals

The time has come once again, when Music Festival Wizard looks back on a year’s worth of music festival data to determine the most popular music events from around the world. Using data from 5.7 million website visitors, the site began collecting information in July of 2015, when they posted their first 2016 festival, to December 31, 2016.

As can be expected from the North American market, Coachella emerged as the No. 1 most popular music festival of the year. Outside Lands, Bonnaroo, Governor’s Ball, Austin City Limits and Snowglobe all managed to make it into the Top 10 as well, with close runners up Lollapalooza, SXSW and Electric Zoo occupying the next few positions. As Music Festival Wizard points out, the overall representation of hip hop was rather lacking, with only Soundset (#5) and Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival (#34) making the cut as more or less exclusive hip hop events.

Meanwhile, over in Europe, the Berlin-based edition of Lollapalooza managed to eek into the No. 1 position above Portugal’s Boom Festival, Ultra Europe, ADE and Mysteryland. The Netherlands and Spain had a very successful year, with each of them placing nine festivals in the complete Europe list.
