Carrie Fisher has reportedly passed away this morning at the age of 60.
After suffering a heart attack aboard a commercial airplane, she was transported to a hospital where she was listed in critical condition. Though he condition improved slowly over the course of the past couple days, Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd confirmed her death in a statement this morning.
Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement on behalf of Lourd:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads the statement.
“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
Carrie Fisher was best known for her portrayal as Princess Leia in the massive Star Wars franchise.
