KSHMR Uploads Sunburn 2016 Anthem Amid Festival Controversy

KSHMR, who was recently exposed as a ghost producer for Borgeous, has just released his latest single. Coming as a collaboration with Marnik and Mitika, “Mandala” has been titled as the official anthem for India’s 2016 installment of Sunburn Music Festival. Featuring immense horns and an undeniably powerful percussion section, the track attempts to wholly capture the spirit of the country’s blossoming EDM culture.

The release of this track comes on the heels of Sunburn’s recent bout of controversy, during which its festival license was held for ransom due to a financial debt to the Goa government. The event had failed to pay police around $161,000 for their security presence, forcing the government to restrict the festival’s access to begin setting up for next year.

In November, Sunburn’s CEO claimed that the Goa government owed Percept Ltd., the production company behind the festival, close to $1 million.

“Percept has been persistent in its efforts to recover dues totalling to over Rs 6 crore from the Government of since five years. This includes recoverable deposits of Rs 1.25 crore towards Sunburn, Rs 3.03 crore for Lusifonia Games, Rs 50 lakhs for Windsong Music Festival and Rs 51 lakhs Entertainment Tax refund for the year 2014 and 2015.”

Despite the confusion, Sunburn’s official website still holds that the festival will take place from December 28 to 31.
