After festivities celebrating the ball drop and the new year end in New York City, the city’s denizens don’t simply stop and quit partying. The celebration only continues on New Year’s Day, and legendary Brooklyn club Output is organizing a very special NYD party for the night owls and early risers alike.
On January 1, the mighty Maya Jane Coles makes her return to New York to play a NYD set at Output. The full lineup also celebrates exceptional women producers and DJs, with rising star Jade and Montreal-based MightyKat holding up support slots. The party itself runs from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., a natural extension of any New Year’s Eve party attendees end up going to the night before. This year, Maya Jane Coles contributed another entry to the Boiler Room mix series, produced a track for musician Chelou, produced a remix for Kim Ann Foxman under her MJC moniker and a remix for Peaches under her Nocturnal Sunshine alias, scored the cover feature for DJ Mag in January and teased new music among numerous gigs.
