On one side of the spectrum, there’s DJ Mag. On the other, there’s Resident Advisor. While DJ Mag tends to skew toward the main stage sound and big, anthemic producers (perhaps at the expense of actual DJs), RA goes even further to the other side and features almost exclusively house and techno artists.
Every year, RA shares its own list of Top 100 DJs. The readers of Resident Advisor are already heavily skewed toward house and techno, so it’s no surprise that those preferences are reflected in its poll. The list is less a reflection of true top 100 DJs and more a reflection of the taste of the publication’s readers – just like DJ Mag.
That being said, these DJs have proven themselves over years and decades of hard craft. Dixon once again snags the top spot on the list. You could say that Dixon is to RA as Armin van Buuren was to DJ Mag for a little while there. The rest of the top 10 is rounded out by the usual suspects: Âme, Ben UFO, Solomun, Maceo Plex, and others.
