Australia’s Subsonic Music Festival, which featured artists like Seth Troxler and Machinedrum recently concluded its three-day festivities, which saw 40 people arrested for various drug-related offenses.
Offenders were identified with the help of police canines as possessing various drugs such as cannabis, ecstasy, LSD, ketamine, and amphetamines. Charged offenders are expected to appear in local court in January 2017 for sentencing.
Police were “disappointed” that despite 17 arrests on the first day, attendees continued to ignore police warnings, resulting in another 20 arrests on the second day. 
Superintendent Chris Craner, Commander of Port Stephens Local Area Command, described the dangers associated with consuming illicit substances.
“Police are disappointed and shocked with the number of people carrying drugs and personally putting their own health and the health of others at risk. . . Consuming a prohibited drug is extremely dangerous – you don’t know what is in the drug, how and where it has been manufactured, or what effects it can have on your body. . . The illegal activities at these events will put the future of any such event in this area in serious jeopardy.”
