Since Mat Zo’s “Shelter” remix was recorded live in San Diego a couple weeks ago, we’ve been dying for it to come out. Though without an actual idea of when that would be, we were left to twiddle our thumbs. Consider our surprise when the track went live on Soundcloud this morning, and it was amazing!
Mat Zo managed to completely capture the essence of the original while still making it completely his own, something that should be common for every remix but is unfortunately all too rare. The beginning of the track plays like some kind of Disney movie set in the jungle, made by Genesis or Toto. The bongos are a huge part of that, but the rhythm just nails it.
After the drop, it turns into a more traditional progressive house tune, only this time with some of the most beautiful sounds ever conceived in EDM.
