Over the past few months, the decline in activity among progressive house superteam Dzeko & Torres has come as a concern to their loyal base of listeners. After founding their careers on Beatport-topping hits and A-list collaborations, however, a new announcement suggests that the two members might be taking some time to work on their own projects.
In a Facebook status posted to the duo’s page on Tuesday, Dzeko revealed that they are ready to “take things to the next level musically.” According to the status, the moment appears to be one that Dzeko and Torres have been working towards for a very long time. Dzeko references their early days of production in 2008, as well as his own schoolhouse fantasies of one day becoming a successful DJ.
The post this week actually followed one from earlier this month, which stated they were “going to reveal a new chapter in both of our musical careers.”
Following this post, a new preview clip was uploaded to Music Freedom, Tiësto’s record label, which claims Dzeko as its sole creator. “Liberty” follows a more laid back house sound than his duo’s usual output, and features wide horn sounds above an infectious rhythm.
With the track’s release date set for December 12, it seems as though the next era in Dzeko & Torres’ careers is starting to unfold. Check out the preview below.
It’s not for certain if Dzeko & Torres will officially break up, or just take some time to themselves, or even if these cryptic statuses are a sign of a break up at all. What is certain is that sooner than later, all will be revealed.
