If you’re headed to Insomniac’s Dreamstate this weekend, there’s a good chance you’ll be seeing trance DJ and legend Paul Van Dyk. After a terrible accident early this year that left him with a broken back, van Dyk has been on the road to recovery and will play at this year’s biggest trance event in the US.
In light of this fact, he’s shared with us a list of some of his favorite trance tracks at the moment, including various cuts from his own VANDIT imprint, as well as a few of his own favorite remixes and originals.
Check out the list below.
Paul van Dyk & Ronald van Gelderen ft. Gaelan & Eric Lumiere – Everyone Needs Love
My next single and quite a production & singer/songwriter team we assembled for it. If you’re heading to Dreamstate this weekend, you’re absolutely going to hear this!
Alex M.O.R.P.H. & Paul van Dyk – We Are
My most recent single with M.O.R.P.H., it’s featured on his album ’Not All Superheroes Wear Capes’, released on my label VANDIT Records this Summer. It’s trance in its purest, most classic form.
James Cottle – Opener
James is one a couple of very impressive new producers who’ve joined the VANDIT Family this year. He’s one of the residents at Goodgreef in the UK. If you’ve not been, “Opener” will give you a very clear idea of the vibe there.
Chris Bekker, Chris Montana & Paul van Dyk – Berlinition – PvD Club Mix
With the release of his first album (& film!), my protégé Chris Bekker had his breakthrough year this year. He, Chris Montana and I collaborated on its title track “Berlinition”. 5 months later, I’m still dropping the PvD Club Mix every set.
(Berlin White Techno Radio Mix)
Leroy Moreno – Lux
Leroy’s another guy who played a big part in VANDIT’s 2016. “Lux” was his first release through the label. One listen and I’m sure you’ll hear what the attraction was.
Ben Nicky – Chapel Street
Ben’s biggest release to date? It’s certainly in the running. The arrangement of “Chapel Street”s drop is nothing less than masterful.
David Forbes & Richard Lowe – Our Day
There’s a dark n dirty tech-trance underbelly to the otherwise beautifully euphoric “Our Day”, which works especially well for me mid-set.
Sied van Riel & Estigma – BOW
The latest release on VANDIT. We’d been looking for the right track to work with Sied on for a while. His collaboration with Argentina’s Estigma proved to have all the right elements.
Chris Bekker ft. Tricia McTeague – We Can Be
Having worked with her on a couple of tracks for my “The Politics Of Dancing 3” album, it probably goes without saying I’m a big fan for Tricia’s voice. What she and Chris did together in the studio on “We Can Be” though is quite exceptional.
