Maddy O’Neal first caught this humble writer’s eye with Introspect, a 9 track LP which showcased Maddy’s curious blend of rock, hip-hop, with future beats. Now, “What I Have to Say” has come as a strong follow-up which might just truly set her apart with her hip-hop-infused style.
Featuring punchy drums, sharp synths, faint piano keys, and an underlying beat that most definitely draws heavily from hip-hop and breakbeat, “What I Have To Say” is a wonderful collaborative track with Project Aspect that not only hits fairly hard but also represents a unique take on drum and bass unlike anything I’ve heard.
