Google Is Launching Its Own Music Festival

Google is launching its own music festival, because it decided that cornering the market on search engines and web browsers, and entering the market with laptops and phones just wasn’t enough. Good Fest will launch later this month, which it is describing as a “a first-of-its-kind livestream festival for good,” according to the event’s website.

The festival will not be located in a single city, but will instead consist of five events across five different cities, all live streamed on YouTube. Glass Animals will perform for the first concert at BAM Cafe in New York City on November 29. According to Business Insider, all of the money collected through ticket sales will go to non-profits; online donations will also be accepted.

Google is using the event to promote its new Pixel smartphone, which will be used to record backstage footage and will be heavily referenced at the events and their promotional material.

More information on the festival can be found on their website here.
