Just like the ice bucket challenge before it, the newly popularized Mannequin Challenge is the latest trend to sweep the internet. Beginning with students at Edward H. White High School in Jacksonville, Florida, the Mannequin Challenge is a simple and pretty self-explanatory idea. A cameraman walks around a usually crowded area of people completely frozen in place, while Rae Sremmurd’s track “Black Beatles” plays in the background. From other high schools and universities to celebrities, athletes and even Hillary Clinton, countless people have been making their own Mannequin Challenge videos for the last several weeks.
Now, two of our own have joined in on the joke. At one of their recent live performances, electronic group Big Gigantic got their immense crowd to play along and freeze while they took an epic video. When “Black Beatles” finally breaks, the crowd goes absolutely wild. Later this week, trap duo Flosstradamus attempted a rendition of their own. Unfortunately for them, their crowd was a bit less willing to stay still.
