Facebook and its subsidiaries have been trying to overtake the market share controlled by Snapchat ever since the app declined its $3 billion buyout deal three years ago. The first major hit was when Instagram introduced ‘Stories’ just this year (though Facebook tried Slingshot in 2014), and now it aims to overtake the yellow ghost in more developing markets.
Facebook just released its standalone app ‘Flash’ in Brazil. According to Kurt Wagner of Recode, the app was developed for users in emerging markets with poor data and WiFi availability. Indeed, it’s size is only 25 megabytes.
These social media platforms have become a major staple in EDM and celebrity engagement with fans, allowing them to glean a deeper insight into their daily lives – which can be glamorous or less so.
