The Weeknd Tells All About Working With Daft Punk On “Starboy”

The Weeknd sat down with The Wall Street Journal recently to talk about some major things going on in his life. Things like cutting his hair, almost working with Prince, and working with the legends Daft Punk. We were most excited about what he had to say about Daft Punk. In the interview, The Weeknd offers up not only some insight into the look of Daft Punk’s studio, but their creative process as well.

The Weeknd said, ““Their studio is like a spaceship, there’s a lot of gear. But the way they make music, the way they explain it, is very cinematic. It’s like they’re reading a page out of a novel – ‘We want to make sure that at the end, it feels like the sun’s coming up, and maybe there’s a car chase.’ They can get technical, but it was interesting how they visualize making music.”

They soundtracked Tron after all, so that makes sense. It seems that Daft Punk remains forever in the future, from their futuristic stage designs to constantly raising the bar. If you’re curious about when the album will finally drop, it is expected to drop the day after Thanksgiving, November 25th. Something more to hopefully be grateful for for the Holidays.
