New Report Finds Women At Greater Risk When Using MDMA

2016 has been an interesting year for the MDMA “industry.” The increase in demand for MDMA has led to an increase in mislabeled pills in addition to higher strength pills, resulting in more complications for users. In the recent Global Drug Survey 2016, it was reported that more than 200,000 people take MDMA each weekend. The drug still has a lot of unpredictable effects, one of which might have been uncovered by this new study.

This new study uncovered a lot of upsetting findings, one of the most notable being that MDMA forces the the body to retain water. Estrogen, a naturally occurring hormone in women, also helps the body retain water. It follows that this dangerous combination of higher Estrogen lvels and the use of MDMA create a higher chance of brain swelling in women than in men.

In 2016 it was reported that 10 women died after taking MDMA, more than double the amount of reported female MDMA related deaths last year. Now, with more people taking the drug than ever before, scientists hede increased caution to women when using MDMA. Stay safe out there.
