The Chainsmokers have their multi-million dollar mansions, and Skrillex is working on building the ultimate beachside compound, but the #1 DJ in the world is perfectly happy with a fresh apartment in the heart of Amsterdam.
Martin Garrix is undoubtedly one of the raddest kids in dance music, maintaining a strikingly humble attitude despite being one of the world’s most in-demand artists. Recently, on a Dutch television show, the 19-year-old opened up his home to cameras, giving viewers a look at how he lives when he’s not touring the globe.
“Whenever I’m here it’s just my own space and just peaceful,” says Garrix of the simple arrangement that has yet to be finished. The three level apartment has its own elevator, paintings wait against the walls for their eventual hanging, a to-be-built fireplace exists quietly until it’s finished, and the beginnings of a studio adorn the second floor – which has since been finished (this video is a few months old).
I could bore you with all the details of the quaint tour and interview, but I’m sure you’d much rather see it for yourself. Check it out below.
