[Premiere] NastyNasty — Broken Moon LP [Saturate! Records] [Free Download]

We’ve been waiting for this one for what feels like an eternity. NastyNasty is one of our absolute favorite beat peddlers in the scene and has been for quite some time now. His staunchly experimental and occasionally emotional style of bass music is truly one of a kind, and he’s been shaping the sound of the underground in countless ways since his emergence several years ago. Though he’s been keeping our audio addiction at bay with plenty of out-of-this-world singles, it has been hard not to count the days since his last EPs back in 2014…

However, now the wait is truly over: NastyNasty’s Broken Moon is finally here and it’s everything we could have asked for. The album is supremely forward thinking, an all-encompassing array of sonic wizardry. It’s equal parts grimy, grungy, and downright weird; not for the faint of heart. Throughout the release, you’ll hear the Bay Area native’s take on halftime, future bass, grime, and even ambient synth-work reminiscent of Starkey’s latest record. Some of these tunes will have you head-banging and throwing ‘bows while others will make you feel like you’re floating through the depths of the cosmos. Despite those distinctions, the album flows freely, with no track feeling out of place. And as if the original music here wasn’t already wild enough, Proko and DJ Pound utterly crushed their remixes as well.

In short, this is NastyNasty’s best work yet. Broken Moon isn’t just another album sitting on the digital shelves; it’s a work of art. Unsurprisingly, it has been released as a name-your-price download via the best label in bass music: Saturate! Records. We strongly suggest supporting this maestro of all things wonky; the full album stream is below, be sure to grab a copy if you dig it!
