MAG-LEV Audio has produced the world’s first levitating record player, and we’re just as excited as they are. Apart from looking like an elegant science fiction piece, the free-floating platter may actually assist the audio quality of the record, though that’s just my own idea and isn’t proven or supported by any truth.
“We were searching for a way to give people a better, newer way to experience vinyl records. By pushing the frontier of audio technology, we were able to integrate the uplifting experience of music into the turntable design itself, bringing the feeling of zero gravity into your living room.”
Apart from utilizing magnets to levitate the platter, the unit incorporates sensor regulating software to achieve precise turning of the platter, resulting in a combination that elevates the analog listening experience like never before.
The MAG-LEV turntable starts at $1,390, and will be ready for consumers by August 2017, but in the meantime you can check out their Kickstarter page for more details.
