Puppet – To Be Alive feat. Aaron Richards [Monstercat]

Monstercat‘s most secretive signee is back once again with a new release. Better yet, there is much more on the way. “To Be Alive” is the first single from Puppet‘s upcoming EP Fear Is Fleeting, the second full-length release of his musical career.

Puppet is one of the few artists I follow that consistently releases quality material, so needless to say, I’m stoked about this EP. My expectations were extremely high for his debut Soft Spoken, yet somehow Puppet managed to even blow those expectations. Because of this, my presumptions for Fear Is Fleeting are more insane than ever.

Luckily, Puppet is onto a great start with “To Be Alive.” If you haven’t listened to him since his early material, you’ll be surprised to find out that Puppet has truly been expanding past glitzy house music in the last year, especially jumping into ambient music, alternative rock and indie dance.

His last single “I’m Here” was proof enough of Puppet’s comfortable niche in indie dance, and I think he’ll be sticking with it for a while. “To Be Alive” continues on this path, all well refusing to abandon some of Puppet’s signature sounds and production styles found in most of his electro house music. The result is a jumpy, yet sugar-sweet indie dance jam that rounds out extremely well thanks to a gorgeous vocal appearance by now-Monstercat-regular Aaron Richards. Don’t skip over this one!
