The Chainsmokers have arguably become one of the hottest names in dance music this year, with each single hitting platinum status even faster than the first and their latest hit “Closer” ruling the charts for 8 weeks in a row. It’s safe to say all eyes are on them, whether that be in admiration or contempt for their perpetual success. So having their support at this step of the game is definitely no small feat. Teaming with artists they see potential in, The Chainsmokers have begun using their XM mix series Nice Hair to begin featuring artists that they love and support.
First showing support for indie melodic rising talent Vanic, the Chainsmokers follow up this Nice Hair with one of dance music’s hottest rising talents, the future melodic genius known simply as Illenium. Kicking off the first 30 minutes of the mix with some Chainsmokers selects, the first half of the mix features a couple IDs, not to mention some of my favorite hits like Vicetone’s “Nevada” and ARMNHMR’s rendition of “Closer”. Shifting the energy over to Illenium, you’re greeted with 30 minutes of emotional swells and high energy future hits that will have you beaming from ear to ear. Including tracks like KRNE and Ghasper’s collaborative single “Fake Friends,” and Ryan Exley’s remix of his own original “Without You,” you’ll find some new gems and old classics that tie the 30 minute mini mix together perfectly.
