Jess Glynne has taken the dance world by storm over the last couple years, and after taking home a BMI Pop Award for “Hold My Hand,” the star singer has announced a new album is in the works.
Ever since her debut album I Cry When I Laugh hit the streets in 2014, fans have been yearning for more of her intoxicating blend of soul and pop that pairs impeccably with house and a heaping dash of disco. And who could forget her work on this little gem…
Friend and fellow songwriter Janee Bennett spoke up to Digital Spy about the work going into Glynne’s forthcoming material.
“We’ve started [Jess’s] new album now. We’ve been working with some amazing producers and writers, including Toby Gad – who’s done loads with Beyoncé – Skrillex and PARTYNEXTDOOR. I’ve been doing quite a few things with Jess for the second album.”
But when asked if this sophomore LP will resemble the sound established in her first endeavor, Bennett neither confirmed or denied that the essence of I Cry When I Laugh would carry on.
“When we first started out writing with Jess, it wasn’t the intention to have a particular sound. It’s literally about her life and what she’s going through. She always remains true to that and what she wants to say, so it makes it a bit easier as a writer. When somebody has such a clear vision, it makes it much more enjoyable collaborating with them.”
