Music charts have begun to reflect pop music’s continued well of inspiration from electronic dance music, and with more dance artists earning platinum certifications, and even diamond in some cases, we can’t help but get excited about what the future may bring.
Now, Google Play has revealed their most streamed songs of the month, and four out of the top five are dance tracks. Drake’s work with Wizkid and Kyla on “One Dance” is the only outsider, though it still sits nicely in the number two spot.
The Chainsmokers and Halsey of course have the top position with “Closer,” and the selfie duo also claims the number three spot with “Don’t Let Me Down” featuring Daya. Major Lazer snags fourth place with Justin Bieber on “Cold Water,” and bringing up fifth is Rihanna and Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For.” If this trend continues, this holiday season is shaping up to be a mighty festive dance party.
