Australia’s Defqon.1 just wrapped up its weekend festivities, drawing over 25,000 to Sydney’s International Regatta Centre, and cementing another successful year in the event’s history. The hardstyle mecca has continued to draw attention for its insane production, but it’s also been subject to increased scrutiny after a death at last year’s event, resulting in an increased presence from law enforcement in 2016.
Police units and medical teams were on high alert, scanning the crowds for anti-social behavior, safety risks, and drug offenses, resulting in a total of 77 arrests. Still, of the 200 attendees who received medical treatment, only six required hospital transport, and everyone seems to be safe after the fun-filled weekend.
