This is the first I’m hearing of Danish ‘dark pop’ outfit Arrow, but so far I like what I’m hearing and I can’t wait to some more of their work. Taking on Brandyn Burnett’s ‘“progressive soul’ hit “State I’m in”, the group gives us a bouncy poppy take on the single.
Now that all of the quotation marks are finally out of the way we can get down to the music. The song kicks off nice and slowly with some vibrant tropical/gospel inspired production (does that even make sense?), for the most part, Arrow does a nice job with a muted production hand to let Brandyn’s vocals speak for themselves.
It’s really hard to categorize what kind of music this is, but either way it’s a superb take on a great original. Free download here and stream below!
