French producer Khamsin rocked my world around this time a few months ago when he dropped his single “Maelstrom” off of his forthcoming EP Leaving. Now, he’s back again with “Once” which adds another dimension of bass music flavor to the cut.
My absolute favorite thing about the track was Layna’s voice which absolutely pierced through the drum melody and strings and pulsating synths to sculpt a wonderfully funky soundscape. Though slower and less energetic than “Maelstrom”, “Once” is nevertheless a balanced addition to the EP which I can’t wait to hear the rest of!
“When I first heard Layna’s voice and guitars, I instantly fell in love. I tried to build something around this universe and mix it to my signature synths and rythms. The final result is a colorful track, probably the happiest on my EP”
