Google Play Shares Top 10 EDM Streamed Songs of Summer 2016 [Exclusive]

The Summer of 2016 will likely go down in history as the point in which EDM really broke through to the mainstream. Arguments could be made for 2010 or 2013 as well, Deadmau5’s cube reveal and Avicii’s “Levels,” respectively, but at no point in time has dance music been so dominant in the charts.

This summer, especially, has seen the release of so many chart-topping songs that it boggles the mind. From Major Lazer & Justin Bieber’s “Cold Water” to The Chainsmokers and Halsey’s “Closer” to DJ Snake & Justin Bieber’s “Let Me Love You,” dance music has been blending with pop and vice versa to create an entirely new soundscape and realm of music.

To that end, Google Play has exclusively provided us with their list of the Top 10 EDM Streamed Songs of the summer, and the results are as you might expect. “Closer” would have eventually made the list, but Google Play placed the cutoff on August 25, less than a month after its release and with not enough time to catch up in plays to the rest of the list.

The rest of the list is fairly predictable, with The Chainsmokers showing up twice, as well as Justin Bieber and Seeb. DJ Snake’s “Middle” made the list, as did Calvin Harris and Rihanna’s “This Is What You Came For.”

The one you might not be familiar with is Jonas Blue’s “Fast Car.” We’ve linked that below for you.
