We all know that when it comes to EDM, Calvin Harris is the cash king. But if you’re wondering how he stacks up against other celebrities, Forbes has got just the ranking for you.
“The World’s Highest-Paid Celebrities Of 2016” is a fairly straightforward list that features musicians, actors, authors, athletes, TV personalities, and one lone magician, as opposed to the EDM Cash Kings list, which is possibly even more straightforward. While the majority of the names are either athletes or musicians, the upper echelon of the list is surprisingly dominated by media personalities with Howard Stern, Rush Limbaugh, and Kevin Hart all in the top 10.
Our lone EDM representative Calvin Harris clocked in at #21 having made $61 million this year – $5 million more and 5 spots ahead of Justin Bieber. Calvin remains a big a radio hitmaker as always with his latest joint single with Rihanna peaking in #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and currently sitting at #5 in its 16th consecutive week on the chart. Calvin also headlined Coachella earlier in the year and is currently in the second year of a three-year residency with Las Vegas’ entertainment power-house Hakkasan Group.
Calvin Harris’ old flame Taylor Swift actually checked in at #1 on the list with $170 million, well ahead of One Direction who made a comparatively paltry $110 million – only about 64% of Taylor’s earnings. Had Taylor and Calvin stayed together it wouldn’t be surprising to see him rake in even more earnings with added sponsorships, potential show dates, and more.
