Let’s face it, the DJ Mag Top 100 rankings have slowly devolved from a once credible ranking of DJ credibility to an overhyped marketing campaign aimed at driving up DJ booking fees over the past decade or so. While quite a few DJs actively market themselves for the competition, there are plenty others who have spoken out publicly on the absurdity of the entire affair.
Laidback Luke is one of those DJs. In an Instagram comment shared by Twitter account “The FPIA”, Laidback Luke stated that he had never campaigned for his fans to vote for him on the rankings which he called “bullshit.” He also cleverly pointed out that fans are the real losers here as the more a DJ rallies his fans to vote so that he can climb the rankings, the more that his fans will inevitably have to pay to catch him, her, or them on his next tour.
Wow @LaidbackLuke speaking truth. Stop supporting the list pic.twitter.com/BJEheJZvIp
