Daft Punk have been characteristically quiet since the release of their last album, Random Access Memories. Appearing like a flash and disappearing altogether once again is a favorite trait of the masked French duo, but now we have reason to believe that they are working on new music. Better yet, they’re in the studio with The Weeknd.
In a discussion with Billboard, Wendy Goldstein, Republic Records executive VP/head of urban A&R, let slip that she was working on putting together a studio session with The Weeknd and Daft Punk. When asked who she would work with if she could work with any artist or songwriter, she said…
“Actually, we have a session coming up in two days with The Weeknd and Daft Punk. I’m a massive Daft Punk fan, and this is the first time that I’ve actually been involved with an artist who’s going to go and work with them.”
The comment was made so swiftly and without so much as a blip on the radar that it’s basically gone unnoticed. It was by pure luck that we even found this information in the first place, and the fact that no one has reported on it is all the more astonishing.

The comment was corroborated last week in an upload to The Weeknd’s Facebook page wherein two Daft Punk action figures sat atop a speaker, with two robot emojis in the post. If that isn’t confirmation, we don’t know what is.
