The Chainsmokers continue their streak of global domination by holding onto their #1 spot in Australia’s ARIA chart for a second week running for their collaboration with Halsey, “Closer”; additionally, they’ve grabbed platinum status (70,000 units) in Australia for the same single.
Closer” is the third straight Chainsmokers single to attain platinum or better status in Australia; predecessors “Don’t Let Me Down” featuring Daya and “Roses” featuring ROZES are now triple platinum.
The Chainsmokers have attained similar or better success in the US with “Closer,” though the same Australian certification in the US would require another 930,000 units. “Closer” has yet to reach Gold certification via the RIAA with 500,000 units, but it will no doubt reach that in time.
