Maarten Vorwerk Begins Campaign For DJ Mag’s Top 100

If you happen to be a major fan of the electro and progressive house genres that blew up between 2012 to 2014, then the name Maarten Vorwerk should ring a bell. Vorwerk gained notoriety and fame in the industry for working on many blockbuster big room house tracks with electronic dance music icons such as Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, DVBBS, Quintino, and many more; he’s even ghost produced for more than a couple of them, as well. It seems now, however, that the Maarten is craving a different kind of attention.

It appears that Vorwerk’s social media presence is shifting its attention towards the upcoming polls for the DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list. Although he is no stranger to criticizing the DJ Mag list in the past, Maarten Vorwerk has spun a satirical campaign to garner votes for a spot in its coveted rankings. With minimal photoshop talent and a couple of tags saying “#VoteVorwerk”, the ghost producer has crafted a solid meme for EDM heads surfing the web.

Whether he tops the list or not, it is amusing to watch Maarten Vorwerk try his luck at the list to see where the list is headed. Even though the list boils down to nothing but a popularity contest and has faced criticism from alleged rigging, it is interesting to compare annual differences between who makes the list, who doesn’t, and why.
