Your EDM Interview: Bachelors Of Science

Just in time for their massive debut at Control’s Avalon in Hollywood, the boys at Bachelors Of Science have sat down with us to chat about releases, their summers and all things music. In collaboration with Respect Thursdays, the team shares the state of the art stage with the legendary Fred V & GrafixDara, with support from NoFace and Respect head honcho Machete. It only felt appropriate for us to have a proper sit down with them, and pry their oh-so creative minds before a night as monumental as this.

Hey boys! Fantastic to be having a word with you all. How’s the summer treating you?

Phil – Going great! Summer never really hits San Francisco until September so we’re stoked to take a break from the fog and get some time in LA this weekend for Control!

Luke – Yeah summer in SF is like London weather. Been working on our studio tans though.

That’s great news. Do you have any new releases you’re excited about?

Chris – Yeah lots – we’re about to launch volume 2 of our The Space Between album remix series on CODE recordings. We asked some of our favorite producers to remix cuts and the response has been great from the likes of Friction on Radio 1 and other outlets. Some really nice remixes from artists like Random Movement, Nymfo, Bladerunner, BCee & Villem, Quadrant, Flaco and many more.

Luke – Beyond that we’ve got some tunes lined up on Spearhead dropping soon and other new stuff coming we can’t mention just yet.

We also see you have this epic show planned at the Avalon. Tell us about the Avalon a bit. Have you played there before?

Luke – We haven’t played there but I saw Booka Shade there years ago and really excited to play this legendary venue for the 1st time!

Chris – We’ve done some really memorable gigs with Fred V and Grafix before and heard great things about the Control crowds so let’s see what you got LA!

What is your favorite song of 2016 thus far?

Phil – Always listening and inspired by a lot of stuff outside of DnB to be honest, so folks like Kaytranada, Badbadnotgood, Anderson Pak have really been crushing it this year.

Luke – So hard to single it down to one tune but I’ve really into the stuff Voltage has been putting out.

Chris – BCee & Villem have been killing it this year – especially the Satisfy remix they done for us;)

What can fans expect to hear from you this coming Friday?

Phil – Lots of energy – party fun vibes.

Chris – Some rate cuts, some unreleased bits. Each member of Bachelors has their own unique musical personality and it’s really fun & dynamic on stage.

Luke – We’ll also have the always entertaining Emcee Child on the mic with us too so it’s the full crew and things will likely get a bit out of hand.

Tell us a bit about your pre-show routines. Is there anything odd or outlandish you all do in preparation or as a superstition?

Phil – The pre-show routine is a bit of a secret… But a spliff & jumping jacks are usually involved.

Lastly, is there anything else you’d like to tell your fans at Your EDM?

Be good to each other out there – travel – be inspired – support the music you love!

That being said, I think it’s fair to say that we’re all equally as excited for all the artists in the place to bring the house down! We at Your EDM can’t wait to see you all there tonight.

You can purchase tickets here.
