Ellie Goulding Cancels Upcoming Shows Due To Insomnia

Popular singer-songwriter and longtime EDM collaborator Ellie Goulding disappointed fans recently when she cancelled a string of upcoming shows on her massive Delirium World Tour. However, news has now surfaced that she had to cancel these dates due to insomnia, and a doctor’s warning that she may ruin her voice.

A source close to the singer had this to say to The Sun, who posted the initial reports:

Ellie’s body clock is completely out of sync and she has found herself lying awake in bed most nights unable to get to sleep. All the travelling through random time zones has messed with her system. She just can’t get to sleep at night, and even when she’s back in England the insomnia is sapping her energy. She’s worried about it as she doesn’t want to be tired before going on stage. She’s a professional and wants to give her fans the best performances possible. Ellie’s had a couple of weeks off now and is hoping she can beat her insomnia through exercise and natural remedies.

The singer herself even responded to the cancellations, saying:

I’ve done nearly 100 shows this year and my doctor has said if I do this weekend my voice might not bounce back from it. I have been diagnosed with exhaustion.

If Ellie ruined her voice to even the slightest degree, that could have serious implications for her career, so it’s more than understandable that she axe some of the tour dates. She’s scheduled to return to the stage tomorrow for her set at Lollapalooza in Chicago, so hopefully she’s feeling better and rested now. We’re wishing Ellie the best!
