It’s never easy to give the remix treatment to a truly classic track. In order for it to succeed, the proper amount of innovation and style need to be perfectly aligned with enough influence from the original arrangement for it to remain approachable and nostalgic. Thankfully, producer LUCA LUSH has done just that with his latest flip of the iconic Skrillex-flipped Benny Benassi and Gary Go single, “Cinema.”
Featuring a familiar flow and similar arrangement, alongside a nasty, squealing trap addition, the remix wholly rebirths the feelings gained from listening to the original. It can now be downloaded for free via the link below.
Beginning with distant piano trills and a driving percussion section, the track sees Gary Go’s vocals quickly taking over the spotlight. The brief climb upwards toward the drop is punctuated by spectrum-wide slams of horn before cascading downwards into a relentless series of piercing hybrid synths and powerful sub bass. The elements are removed for a short period of atmospheric blips, then returned as the track progresses towards the break once again. This time, the lead synth is replaced by a gnarly, metallic buzz.
