Joining the likes of Marshmello, PYLOT and Karma Fields, Tokyo Machine is the newest anonymous addition to the Monstercat family. “PARTY” is Tokyo Machine’s big debut, which takes influence from artists like JVST SAY YES, Valentino Khan and Jauz. Though still extremely fresh, this sound comes as no huge surprise since Monstercat has been on such a bass house roll in the last year (*cough* Pegboard Nerds *cough*).
Judging from his branding and first single, it appears that Tokyo Machine is a J-pop inspired bass house project. Chiptune sounds and Japanese vocal samples are central to this artist’s sound, which is slim to nonexistent in the bass house scene, giving Tokyo Machine some immediate credit for uniqueness.
The big question is; who exactly is Tokyo Machine? While we could assume that he’s a completely new artist, Tokyo Machine’s mature sound is enough evidence that he has probably been producing for a good chunk of time. Some have concluded that Tokyo Machine is an alias of bass house/dubstep producer Ghastly, whose brand is – visually – very similar, but for now, everything is only speculation. Only time will tell of Tokyo Machine’s true identity.
