EDM has been invading pop more than ever over the past couple of years, and it’s been interesting to see how major artists have been incorporating their skills into that field. The latest producers to venture into that arena are Zedd and Grey, who provide production duties on their new collaboration with Hailee Steinfeld, “Starving.”
Featuring soft, acoustic guitar and Hailee’s radio-ready vocals, there’s no doubt that this single is geared toward regular radio airplay. Fans of Zedd’s Clarity and Grey’s earliest work might find this out-of-character for both artists, but it’s only natural for artists to evolve over time.
More than anything else, it’s going to be amazing to hear a future bass-esque style on national radio. Artists like Zedd are leading the charge in showing how versatile electronic music can be, and we have no problem with that.
