If you’ve been listening to electronic music for any amount of time, there’s a solid chance you’ve heard the name Noisia. As masters of their craft, they are inspirations for hundreds of producers, even those that don’t wish to pursue Drum n’ Bass, because of their impeccable sound design and tireless pursuit of excellence.
It’s been six years since their breakthrough album Split The Atom, and they’re looking to recreate that success and more with their forthcoming album, Outer Edges. They’re back now with a new track, titled “Voodoo,” that is absolutely bound to melt minds. Their technical ability and sound design has almost never been as clear as in this track, blending sounds that have no business working together with ease and panache.
NOISIA SAID: “It’s called Outer Edges because it’s us exploring the outer edges of what Noisia, the three of us together, is. It’s about the idea that all the songs are little islands that we take to their individual edge… They’re all like expeditions to far sides. That doesn’t mean that it’s everything; it’s just that every song, if it goes in a certain direction, we’ve taken it all the way there. There are no real concessions – we haven’t been super DJ-friendly or radio-friendly at all. We’ve done no collaborations and hardly any vocals on the album.”
