I’m not going to lie, when I was sent over this track I was fully expecting to be extremely cheesy but having listened to it several times now I’m pleasantly surprised. Dena Amy‘s debut single does indeed have playful elements about it, but the track itself is a solid deep house tune made for the underground clubber.
The first thing that sticks out to me are the vocals, Dena’s voice is the perfect combination of smoky and sultry and when you’re gifted an acapella like that it’s fairly hard to mess up – even if you’re producing over your own track! The production is tight with the funky kind of bass line you expect to hear in a gritty club while the bright synths in the background provide an excellent contrast showcasing Dena’s production chops.
