We recently reported that ID&T was looking into expanding their famed Tomorrowland event to Thailand, but the news has been debunked as false.
After the rapid growth forced by SFX during the company’s heyday, it seems ID&T is looking to slow things down and affix a firm grasp on their current palette of events. The Dutch production company says the rumored expansion to Thailand is the result of a mistranslation from Thailand’s Post Today. What World Planet Entertainment’s managing director Chatri Tungthiankul actually said was that the country “should be looking to host an event such as Tomorrowland.”
However, ID&T did disclose to Billboard that they’ll be organizing two Unite events in Japan and India for the year, but with TomorrowWorld 2016 being cancelled, and Tomorrowland Brasil having just happened recently, they certainly have more than enough to be thinking about.
Although Tomorrowland Thailand is nothing more than a twinkle in the eye of World Planet Entertainment, one statement from Tungthiankul still has us thinking.
“We will also have to be ready to facilitate the journey for festival-goers from other countries, specifically at the immigration control, because when people travel to the festival in other countries – Belgium, Brazil and the US – their personalized festival bracelet does all the work, including that of a passport.”
A festival bracelet that does all the work of a passport? We’ll just have to wait and see.
