Absolut Releases New Virtual Reality App Featuring Deadmau5

If you’ve been paying attention to deadmau5 on Twitter or Instagram lately, you know that he’s been teasing something with virtual reality (VR) and motion capture for the last couple of months. Today, the veil has been taken away and fans finally get to see what he’s been working on.

The result of all of those testing demos is a new virtual reality app from Absolut featuring Deadmau5 as he makes his was with Meowingtons to a new show as he debuts his new song, “Saved,” in front of a live audience shot in the artist’s hometown of Toronto.

The game itself is simple enough – tap on the screen to direct deadmau5 where you want him to go. There are a couple of different activities in the game, as well, but we won’t spoil those for you.

Virtual reality has been merging with a huge number of other media and tech platforms to really expand and test all possible uses for the technology. There are still probably features and possibilities that haven’t been thought of yet, and that’s the most exciting thing.

The Absolut deadmau5 app will be available for download in all major app stores, including iOS, Android and Samsung, and is best experienced using the Absolut deadmau5 custom VR cardboard headsets – available for order starting today, for $17.95, at Absolutdeadmau5.com.
