In my recent past, I’ve had the disadvantage of purchasing countless pairs of expensive headphones in hopes of finally attaining a pair that could not only endure my rough musical endeavors but would simply last more than a few months so that I could at the very least feel that I got my money’s worth. Unfortunately in today’s day and age, this apparently is a very difficult feat for electronic companies to accomplish. Cracked rims, faulty wiring and countless single-sided sound outputs plagued my musical experience. I’ve trekked through the hopeless catalogs of Pioneer after many a defective pair. I’ve navigated through the lonely and unpromising tech support contact pages of Sennheiser. All hope for an honest pair of durable headphones seemed to have fogged beneath my very ears, until the postman delivered the tech holy grail.

Now now, I know what you’re thinking.

“Oh, he’s probably getting paid to endorse them. He’s probably a sponsor and this is some sort of synergetic attempt to collaborate in the collection of my hard-earned money only to salvage what’s left of my money into yet another empty audio promise.”

Wrong. I’m the sort of person that speaks extremely highly of the products and manufacturers that I swear by. That being said, I’m also the sort of person to berate and disenfranchise a company might I feel that I am being taken advantage of. I can say with the utmost confidence, that everything that I’m about to relay to you about this product is accurate and trustworthy- and if by some outlandish misfortune you undergo a technical error as I have with so many of my past pairs , you can rest assured your valiant efforts to purchase an honest product will be supported by a 2 year ‘premier warranty’ that covers all repairs and refurbishments, in the event that your headphones don’t function properly.

Now that we’ve got that off the table, let’s get into the good stuff. With unrivaled sound and noticeable difference in audio texture, every aspect surrounding the product specs excels predetermined expectations. With limitless customization available, an easily configurable wireless bluetooth feature, unscathed durability and flawless sound relay, the Crossfade Wireless are truly everything a musician or music enthusiast could ask for in modern technology and more.

Included with your purchase is a dependable exoskeleton casing. This is a very accessible and lightweight shell that could easily withstand just about any damage your pair may face with ease. Also included is a carbine clip, a reinforced 3-button microphone cable, an extended audio cable (for those that like to move far from their pair and are for some reason not bluetooth-friendly), a 1/4″ adapter, cleaning cloth and their Six- Star service. Let’s also not forget the steel shield custom laser engraving offered with your purchase (mine say Your EDM- I feel pretty special).

For a moment I’d like to segue into my initial experience with the product, better yet… my Father’s first experience. After I had finished bouncing around my room wirelessly to the impeccable sound of my Crossfade Wireless, I walked into the living room and passed them to my father to test with unadulterated ears. As the final inch of open air enclosed around his earlobes, so did those of his eyelids. Bliss. The immediate visual joy was something so extravagant, not even a Kodak photograph could encapsulate the scene thoroughly. His expression encompassed by the world he had just seen for the first time, not by his eyes but with his ears. Needless to say, I didn’t get my headphones back for the rest of the night. I let him have his fun.

As my next test of endurance, I sought out taking them to a performance with me at one of my DJ events I had in the following weeks of my receiving of the set, but we’ll touch back on that shortly. Just before my hour long set, I had a brief meeting with a V-Moda representative(and good friend of mine) Niko Monjarez to discuss the unmatched qualities of the product itself.

The question was asked, “What separates V-Moda headphones from its competitors?”

Niko quietly looked around the outside patio in which we sat, and then with a firm  nod lifted his hands as to display his surroundings and with confidence and a quirky smirk replied “Everything.” The pair can easily and effectively withstand over 50 drops from 6ft on concrete, the steelflex headband can withstand 10 flat bends on a table, wielding military- tested metal, and the Kevlar reinforced cable is good for 1 million + bends (which is actually 100x the industry standard). So it’s safe to say unless your initiative is to demolish your newly acquired pair of premium headphones, you’ll be just fine.

In closing, the tech industry is sort of like California weather. Some days it’s clear as day that you get what you pay for. Other times, you can drop $450 on a pair of plastic garbage and broken promises. I can confidently say that for the lowly price of $170, you truly be impressed at what quality can be attained with the help of a trustworthy company in parallel with an exceptional product.
